In Zadok Ben-David’s installation Blackfield, flowers were used as a metaphor for human dualities based on drawings from Victorian botanical books. In his installations Blackflowers the artist oversized the sculptures to make it possible for the viewer to see every intricate detail and relate to the flower in a new way. The floral symbol can be seen as a humble catalyst to remember their importance in regenerating nature, as well as giving the viewer an opportunity to reminisce about a flower from their childhood.  Whether as giant drawings in space or a miniature representation, the flower lets the viewers form their own experience from personal memories.
